Meet our Board Members!

President

 

The Board President provides strategic leadership and governance to ensure the organization fulfills its mission with integrity, transparency, and impact. Serving as the chief volunteer officer, the President guides the board’s work, fosters strong collaboration with the executive team, and champions a culture of accountability and vision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading board meetings and setting clear priorities for effective governance
  • Partnering with the Executive Director to support organizational strategy and performance
  • Ensuring the board operates in alignment with bylaws, policies, and best practices
  • Encouraging active board engagement, recruitment, and development
  • Representing the organization in the community and strengthening relationships with stakeholders

The Board President plays a vital role in shaping long‑term direction, stewarding resources responsibly, and advancing the mission on behalf of the communities the organization serves.

Vice-President

  

 The Vice President supports the Board President in guiding the organization’s strategic direction and ensuring effective governance. As a key leader on the board, the Vice President helps maintain momentum on organizational priorities, strengthens board engagement, and steps in to fulfill presidential duties when needed.

Core contributions include:

  • Collaborating closely with the Board President to plan and facilitate board initiatives
  • Providing leadership on committees, task forces, or special projects
  • Supporting the Executive Director and board in advancing strategic goals
  • Helping cultivate a strong, informed, and active board culture
  • Serving as an ambassador for the organization within the community

The Vice President plays a pivotal role in sustaining continuity, fostering collaboration, and reinforcing the mission-driven leadership that guides the organization forward.

Secretary

 The Secretary serves as the board’s primary steward of records, ensuring that the organization’s governance is transparent, accurate, and well‑documented. As a key officer, the Secretary supports effective communication within the board and helps maintain compliance with legal and organizational requirements.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining accurate minutes of board and committee meetings
  • Managing official records, policies, and governance documents
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, and materials with board leadership
  • Ensuring timely communication among board members and between the board and staff
  • Overseeing adherence to bylaws and supporting organizational compliance

The Secretary plays an essential role in keeping the board organized, informed, and aligned, helping the organization operate with clarity and accountability.

Treasurer

  The Treasurer oversees the financial health and integrity of the organization, ensuring that resources are managed responsibly and transparently. As the board’s chief financial officer, the Treasurer provides guidance on budgeting, reporting, and long‑term financial planning to support the mission and sustainability of the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the organization’s financial status and presenting clear, accurate reports to the board
  • Leading the development of annual budgets and supporting financial planning
  • Ensuring proper financial controls, compliance, and record‑keeping
  • Working closely with staff or finance committees on audits, filings, and fiscal policies
  • Helping the board understand financial information to support informed decision‑making

The Treasurer plays a crucial role in safeguarding the organization’s assets, promoting accountability, and supporting strategic growth through sound financial stewardship.

Member-at-Large

 Kayla Brown is a passionate hip hop instructor with 7 years of teaching experience. She has performed and competed on multiple TV shows and is a 3-time state champion. Kayla brings energy, style, and a love for self-expression to every class.

Member-at-Large

 Jaci Corbit has been dancing since the age of six and enjoys all styles of dance. She has been dancing with Ballet Continental for seven years and teaches tap, hip hop, and recently pointe. She was a member of the PAC Dance Team for three years. Jaci is currently attending the University of Arizona to study Creative Writing. She is very excited to teach new and returning students this year!

Member-at-Large

  Machala Gilliland, 25, has been dancing most of her life and considers it one of her greatest passions. As a teacher, Miss Machala brings energy, encouragement, and structure to her students. She has taught with Ballet Continental for 10 years and also worked in the Vail School District with children ages 2 through 5th grade. Her love of teaching continues at Ballet Continental as she pursues a new passion in nursing.
